Terms of Service
Effective date: November 3, 2026
These terms apply when you use lucidintelllc.com and our signing platform. By using them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who we are
Lucid Intelligence Group ("we") is a private California company. We are not a government agency. We are not part of, and do not act for, the State of California or the State Controller's Office (SCO). We are registered with the SCO as an investigator, registration number [PENDING].
What we do
We find people the State of California holds unclaimed property for, and we write to them by mail. If you hire us, we prepare your claim, file it with the SCO, and follow it until the State pays or denies it.
Your written agreement controls
If you hire us, a written agreement sets the terms of our work. You may sign it on our platform or on paper. As California Code of Civil Procedure section 1582 requires, it states what the property is and what it is worth, that the State Controller holds it, and the address where you can claim it yourself for free. These terms do not replace that agreement. If the two ever differ, the agreement controls.
Our fee
- Our fee is never more than 10% of what the State pays on your claim.
- We are paid only after the State pays. You pay nothing up front.
- If the State does not pay, you owe us nothing.
- You may cancel at no cost any time before we file the claim.
No promises about the result, and no advice
The State decides every claim. We cannot promise that it will pay, how much it will pay, or when. We do not give legal, tax or financial advice. For questions of that kind, please ask a lawyer, tax preparer or other adviser you choose.
The information you give us
Please give us true and complete information, and tell us if something changes. A claim built on wrong information can be delayed or denied. Sign only for yourself, or for someone you have the legal right to act for.
Using this site
You may use this site to learn about our services, enter the code from your letter, and sign. Please do not:
- enter a code that was not sent to you, or try to guess codes
- pretend to be someone else
- try to reach parts of the site or platform that are not meant for you
- use automated tools to copy the site or to overload it
We may block anyone who breaks these rules.
Our content
The words, design, logo and images on this site belong to Lucid Intelligence Group. You may view and print pages for your own use. Please do not copy or reuse them for any other purpose without our written permission.
Electronic records and signatures
We follow California's Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Civil Code section 1633.1 and following). Before you sign on our platform, you check a separate box that says: "I agree to review and sign this agreement electronically, and I understand I may instead sign the paper copy and mail it back." Your electronic signature then counts the same as a signature on paper.
- You never have to sign electronically. You may sign the paper copy and mail it back instead.
- You get a copy of the signed agreement.
- If you give us your email address, we may send you notices about your claim by email.
Limits on our responsibility
This section covers your use of the website. Our work on a claim is covered by your written agreement.
We keep the site running with care, but we provide it as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for problems outside our control, such as delays at the State, mail delays, or outages at our service providers. If we are responsible to you for a loss caused by your use of the website, our total responsibility is limited to $100.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for fraud, for harm we cause on purpose, or for breaking the law. California Civil Code section 1668 does not allow that. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under California's Unclaimed Property Law (Code of Civil Procedure section 1500 and following), including your right to claim your property yourself.
Disputes
California law governs these terms. If we cannot settle a dispute by talking it through, it will be heard in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sonoma, unless the law gives you the right to bring it somewhere else. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. These terms do not require arbitration, and they do not take away your right to be part of a class action.
Notice to California users
Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California users are entitled to this notice.
